Claire Ross
Therapist
Claire Ross is a therapist at Kirwan Clinic, primarily supporting primary-school-aged children and their families. She also provides parenting support, couples counselling and group therapy. Claire has a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion, alongside additional training in counselling, parenting and family support, including Circle of Security and Triple P.
Claire supports children experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, social challenges, behavioural concerns and difficulties adjusting to change. Her approach combines practical skill development with warmth, curiosity and compassion. Recognising that children often communicate through behaviour and play rather than words alone, she incorporates creative approaches such as drawing, storytelling, imaginative play and movement.
Over the past four years, Claire has worked with children experiencing anxiety and emotional challenges in a local school, including children from Defence Force families. She has also supported couples and families in Rockingham. Claire works collaboratively with parents and schools to develop shared understanding and practical strategies. Her couples counselling focuses on communication, connection and relationship difficulties, drawing on Gottman-informed approaches.
At Kirwan Clinic, Claire also facilitates emotional regulation groups for primary-school-aged children through the Stronger Wings program. She values a flexible, individualised approach to therapy, incorporating play, creative activities and, where appropriate, outdoor experiences. Her aim is to provide a welcoming, respectful environment where children feel understood, develop confidence and build skills to navigate life’s challenges.
